Our company

wheyco is a commitment to manufacturing excellence of whey based ingredients. It is a commitment built on meeting customer needs with fairness, reliability and responsibility.

wheyco was founded in 2004 as an independent joint venture between HUMANA and NORDMILCH. During the merger of the two companies in May 2012, wheyco joined the DMK Group as an independent subsidiary and is now part of DMK Industry, the ingredients business of DMK Group. Within DMK Industry, wheyco represents the whey-based ingredients part of the business.

Our difference

Our specific approach to both manufacturing and business sets us apart from our peers – our ways are our difference.

  1. Our commitment to precision and consistency begins with our highly consistent raw material from semi-hard natural cheese.
  2. We deliver exceptional precision and consistency by focusing our efforts on a select set of ingredients across both manufacturing sites.
  3. The uniqueness of our raw material and a commitment to doing a few things well, enables us to produce on demand and customize as required.

As a trusted ingredient provider to leading national brands, we place emphasis on the service attributes that lower market and product risk for our customers.

  1. We ensure the consistency and reliability of supply.
  2. We prioritise responsiveness and agility to meet customer needs.
  3. We are committed to weathering uncertainty and volatility.

Our sourcing

The quality and consistency of our raw material (whey) is the starting point of our competitive advantage.

We source all our whey from local cheese factories to stringent quality and traceability standards.

Our goal is to maximise the potential of the whey stream, which is a valuable by-product of cheese manufacture.

Our safety

We believe safety is an attitude towards business and it is also a commitment to the well-being of end consumers.

We uphold our commitment to safety by consistently delivering our products to a precise set of standards. Made right, every time.

Our sustainability

Our approach to sustainability focuses on maximizing the potential of whey stream, a valuable byproduct of cheese manufacture. Thereafter, it is an ongoing commitment to lower our impact and minimize waste across our areas of control and influence.

Together with DMK Group, our supply chain partners, we focus on critical factors like energy consumption, the optimization of water consumption, wastewater disposal and treatment, and compliance with the directives for plant emissions. These factors are structured by ISO 14001 and 50001 and systematically certified by an accredited company. You can find more about the sustainability approach of DMK Group here.
